The Official Website of the Thailand Ladies Golf Association

Thailand Ladies Golf Association held 4-day qualifying rounds at Mountain Shadow Golf Club in Bangphra, Chonburi, to select its top player for the 2009 Suntory Ladies Open in Japan. The winner is Patcharajutar Kongkraphan, who returned the scores of 73-70-73-76 (292) to beat her 1st runner-up, Walaipan Uttama (300) by 8 shots and 2nd runner-up, Chabongkot Premchuen (301) by 9 shots.

Patcharajutar failed to make the team for this year’s Queen Sirikit Cup but gained back her top form to win her place to represent Thailand at this well-established Suntory Ladies Open, scheduled to be played from June 11-14, 2009, at Rokko Kokusai Golf Club in Kobe, Japan. This Professional tournament has the biggest prize money of Y100,000,000 and the field will consist of top 50 ranking players from the LPGA, The LET and the JLPGA winners in the Order of Merit. Invitations are extended to top amateurs from Australia, New Zealand, Chinese-Taipei and Thailand only.

Past participants from TALGA included Nontaya Srisawang, Titiya Pluckstaporn and Russamee Gulyanamitta, who have all turned professional since then. Patcharajutar (age 17), whose aim is to turn professional in future, hopes to gain the benefit of her experience from playing in Japan. She has done well in her junior competitions, winning several World Juniors’ titles. She is also one of the selected players in the TGA’s training squad for the Asian Games.

In the meantime, TALGA has sent Thidapa Suwannapura to compete in Korea Womens Open this week in Korea. Thidapa was the runner-up in the Thailand Ladies Amateur Open in March and was selected instead of Pinrat Loombunruang who is still under-age.
